ABSTRACT
The study investigated the Causes and Effects of Female Prostitution in tertiary institutions using University of Benin as a case study. Questionnaire was used to collect data on female prostitution, its effects and its consequences. The population of the study comprises youths, parents, and teachers in the area. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was used to select the respondents for the study. Simple percentage was used to analyze the research. Conclusion drawn from the analyses indicates that prostitution has negative effects on the academic performance and health of students involved in prostitution. Recommendation was made based on the findings. Such as: Government should create more job opportunities for the youths, make cost of education and schooling affordable.
