ABSTRACT
The study was designed to ascertain the alternatives to the use of chemical insecticides to combat mosquitoes and promote eco-friendly environment. To guide this study, three research questions was raised. The study was delimited to the residents in Ekosodin community. The descriptive survey design was used in this study.
The population for this study consisted of all the resident of Ekosodin community and a total of 70 persons were selected as the sample size. The main instrument for this study is a self-structured questionnaire. The validity of the instrument was established by giving it to the supervisor of the research work and three other experts in the field of this research study. The reliability of the instrument was established using the spit half method, the reliability yielded a coefficient of 0.825. The data obtained was subjected to analysis using frequency counts and percentages. Results from the study showed that there is an alternative well known amongst persons to use in place of a chemical insecticide. Consequent upon the findings of this study, it was recommended that; There is need to carry out awareness campaign on other alternatives to the use of insecticides like the indoor residual spray and the pyrethyroid insecticide seeing that it is also very effective in combating mosquitoes and promoting eco-friendly environment.
