ABSTRACT

Carbonated drinks including Sosa have become a staple in modern dietary patterns, particularly in urbanized and developing regions. The consumption of carbonated beverages has increased globally over the past decades, becoming a major component of modern diets. The aim of this study is to evaluate the heavy metal and alkaline metal content of Sosa carbonated drink through digestion and titration respectively, focusing on their composition, potential health benefits and associated risk. By examining current scientific literature and research findings, this study seeks to offer a balanced and evidence based perspective on the multifaceted nature of carbonated drink consumption and its impacts on human health. Quantitative analysis detected the presence of potassium, magnesium and calcium which were all present in safe range as per FDA and WHO guidelines. Trace metal such as chromium, manganese and zinc were also present, meeting dietary standard and posing minimal toxicity risks with occasional use. The absence of harmful metals such as cadmium and lead also enhances the safety of the drink however continues quality control is recommended to prevent potential cumulative toxicity, especially with frequent consumption. Sosa carbonated drink to some extent is in compliance with the safety standard providing essential nutrients and electrolyte.
