ABSTRACT
Agricultural marketing is one of the most important aspects of agriculture, if goods harvested are not marketed well, there would be a heavy loss on stakeholders involved. For a long time, most farmers in Nigeria heavily rely on Traditional marketing techniques like banners, cold calling, etc. which have proven to be intensively time consuming, reaching few customers and labour intensive amongst other dilemmas. This project elaborates and betone the utmost need for farmers and other vendors to adopt digital marketing platforms for selling produce and promoting their services. “Online marketplace or Social Media marketplace?”-This project examines and explains the contrasting features between the two, pros and cons, and many more. The project focuses on African farmers particularly Nigeria and the agricultural marketing methods being used. Additionally, the project focuses on the full design (Front and Back end) and implementation of an agricultural application that links farmers to buyers and service provider. Verified farmers upload their products’ details with sharp photo quality for Search Engine Optimization; potential customers (Retailer or Wholesaler) go through the public marketplace. Upon ordering a product, the stock reduces as per the amount of goods purchased while upon ordering a service, the service is unavailable until the supposed service has been rendered. The project makes use of Object Oriented approach for system analysis and design; and system flowchart for better understanding on how the system works from the ground up. These designs served as the framework for the system and system architecture. The system runs on Android Studio via Firebase Framework and programmed in Java Programming Language
