ABSTRACT

This research work gives an insight on the impact of age on the academic performance of students in secondary schools with a particular reference to Egor local government area of Edo state. Students physiological build up, the influence of students age on their academic performance, and how the provision of facilities influences learner’s behaviour was considered in this study.

     Descriptive survey research design was adopted while four research questions were  raised  to  guide the study and the study makes use of frequency count and percentage to analyze the data collected through the use of a structured questionnaire which serves as the research instrument. The data collected were analysed in the chapter four of the research work according to the research questions raised in the chapter one of this research work.

Having carried out the research work it is therefore concluded that the students age have little or no influence on the academic performance of students in secondary schools, the physiological build up of students affects the teaching and learning process at times and the provision of learning facilities influences learners' behaviour. Hence, the school ought to make adequate provision of learning facilities for effective teaching and learning in secondary schools.
