ABSTRACT

The study investigated affective domain as a predictor of senior secondary school students achievement in Mathematics in Oredo local government area of Edo state. The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between the affective domain factors and senior secondary school students academic achievement in Mathematics. To carry out this study five (5) research questions were raised and five (5) hypotheses were formulated. The study adopted the survey research design of the correlational approach. The total population of this study comprises all Senior Secondary School students (SSS 3) in public schools in Oredo Local Government Area in Edo State. The total number of secondary school in Oredo is 14. The population of SSS 3 students in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State is 2300.a sample size of 292 students was obtained The instrument for data collection was a Mathematics score proforma and structured questionnaire which was face validated by the project supervisor and two experts from the department. The data collected were analyzed using linear regression and tested at 0.05 Alpha level of significance while the test scores were standardized Findings from the study revealed that there is a significant correlation in students’ academic performance in Mathematics and the affective domain factors.. It was recommended that the affective domain should reflect in educational objective
