ABSTRACT
The adsorption property of the Dangara clay was examined to determine the adsorption of heavy metal, nickel. The effect of various parameters such as adsorbent dosage, initial concentration, contact time, pH and temperature were observed. The result obtained showed that the optimum equilibrium adsorption was 67.38% at pH 9, 81.38% at 20g adsorbent dosage, 81.40% at time 60 minutes, 94.99% at temperature 40oC, 94.97 at 10ppm initial concentration. The experimental data were analyzed by both the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm model. The result obtained shows that the Dangara middle layer clay is an effective adsorbent for the adsorption of the heavy metal Nickel from an aqueous solution.
