ABSTRACT
Excessive fluoride in potable Causes a serious health problem in rural areas of many developing countries. The presence of small amounts of fluoride in potable water is beneficial to human health, but a high amount [greater than 1.5 milligram per liter] has adverse effects. This study is aimed to prepare a cost effective adsorbent of clay that can he used as a defluoridating agent. The clay was activated with HCL, and the effects of various experimental parameters such as contact time (5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 80, 120 mins), Concentration of adsorbate (20, 25,30,35,40,45,50 mg/L) And dose of adsorbent( 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9, 1.1, 1.3g) were investigated using batch adsorption method.
