ABSTRACT
Cost estimation software has been presented to upscale Quantity Surveying duties. This research focuses on the adoption of quantity surveying software by professionals in Edo State, Nigeria. The study seeks to know the prevalent quantity surveying software used by professionals, understand the benefits of adopting these software and the barriers to their adoption. The study employs a quantitative research approach, utilizing primary data collected through structured surveys administered to construction Quantity Surveyors in Edo State. Additionally, secondary data from relevant literature, research articles, reports, and publications are utilized to obtain data. Statistical analysis techniques, including descriptive statistics were employed to analyse the data and draw meaningful conclusions. While the research achieved significant findings, it is important to note certain limitations. The findings show that Microsoft excel is the most widely used software while high cost of software and hardware stand as the most significant barrier to the adoption of software in the quantity surveying profession. The study further recommends options for better software adoption among professionals in the Edo construction industry.
