ABSTRACT
Digital technologies play a pivotal role in the evolution of the construction industry globally. This study focuses on the adoption of digital technologies in the Edo State construction industry. The objectives are to identify the barriers to digitization, examine strategies for improving digitization in the Edo state construction industry, and identify digital technologies used by professionals in the Edo State construction industry. However, the journey towards digitization is not devoid of challenges, from issues of technological integration and data privacy to the imperative of upskilling the workforce. In response, stakeholders are called upon to invest in technology and training, foster collaboration among industry players, prioritize data security, and commit to monitoring and adapting digitization initiatives. Using a descriptive method, data was collected through a well-structured questionnaire. Two hundred and forty-seven questionnaires were distributed, and one hundred and eighty questionnaires were retrieved from the construction professionals. The findings revealed the most significant barriers to the adoption of digitization in the construction industry. The study also revealed the most digital technologies used by the construction professionals and their perceptions. In sum, the construction industry stands poised to build a smarter, safer, and more sustainable future through the strategic adoption of digitization.
