ABSTRACT
In this scientific research, the hydrolysis of ethyl acetate is catalyzed by an acid, and is followed by titrating a fixed volume of a reaction mixture with a standard alkali solution, at different intervals of time. The ester hydrolysis is acid catalyzed in the presence of HCl as the mineral acid catalyst and titrated against Sodium hydroxide at constant room temperature and pressure but at different time intervals of 0, 10, 20,30, 40 and 50minutes. The aim of this scientific research is to find the rate constant, order of reaction and molecularity of the acid catalyzed hydrolysis of ethyl acetate in the presence of HCL at varied times and concentrations of mineral acid and ester. For this purpose, the reaction is experimentally performed using titrimetric methods in the lab and the change in Concentration is measured with time at different concentrations of the mineral acid (1M, 0.5M, 0.25M) and different Concentrations of ethyl acetate (1M, 0.5M and 0.2M).Finally to analyze the experimental data obtained, the graphical method is used and a graph is plotted between Log(a-x) andt(time) and finally results shows that the value of rate constant, order of the reaction and molecularity is obtained from the graph and its intercept.
