Abstract
This study centers around assessing the use of google as an online academic resource using Uniben students as a case study. Use of the internet has had a significant impact on our world. We now prefer using it as our primary way of communication because of how thoroughly it has changed how we communicate. Internet access is a common practise among users, including students, who use it to find materials that will help them succeed academically. The students are able to access these materials because they have internet-capable computers and smartphones that let them log on to the internet and access an endless supply of information. Use of Google, which has established itself as a key source of information by providing users with relevant and reliable search results, is one of the most well-known ways to accomplish this. The objective of this study is to ascertain the extent to which students use google as an online academic resource and to determine the credibility or authenticity of information from google. The survey method was used by the researcher as instruments were administered to the respondents to gather information relevant to this study. The researcher discovered that all respondents are familiar with the use of google as source of getting academic resource while (59%) and (18%) respondents strongly agreed and agreed that using Google helps them learn more effectively. The research concluded that students do not fact check information they collect from google while some of they are tempted to copy and paste information without proper citations leading to plagiarism. It was recommended that Students should be educated about the importance of originality, paraphrasing, and citing sources correctly can help them develop skills to avoid plagiarism.
