SUMMARY

To begin with, the study has shown that the women in a man's world are treated unfairly and unjustly. The study has shown that both Osofisan and Okoh are Feminists who were able to show that in their works, Altine's Wrath and Our Wife Forever respectively. In addition, chapter one is the general introduction of the study. In the same chapter, the Feminist ideology is adopted. This theory agitates for an equal rights and privileges for both the males and females, or most times, a total elimination of patriarchy in literary works.

Furthermore, in chapter two, we examined, very critically, the gender discrimination in both works. In the same chapter, we see how both writers use Lawal in Altine's Wrath and Thomas Imodu in Our Wife Forever to perpetrate gender discrimination. Separately, Lawal beats up, exploits, and destabilize his wife, Altine to the extent that he brings home his numerous mistresses and orders that Altine kneels to greet them. This is made evident in the texts until Altine, who has been feigning to be dumb, redefines herself, and takes up the decision of emancipating herself from the shackles of gender discrimination. On the other hand, Victoria, the heroine in Our Wife Forever is subjected to suffering by both the evil tradition of her husband, and her husband’s brother, Thomas Imodu who has vowed to let hell loose in her just because she refuses to marry him as stipulated by tradition after the death of her husband, Hector. On one occasion, Thomas enchants and tries to rape her, but fails in his attempt. Despite all these, she remains steadfast, and takes charge of the home.
