ABSTRACT
The automotive industry, a cornerstone of modern transportation, relies on various technical subsystems and a complex supply chain. The need for skilled auto mechanics to ensure vehicle safety and reliability is undeniable. However, a persistent challenge exists in connecting motorists with qualified mechanics, often resulting in distrust, frustration, and even safety hazards. To address these issues, this project introduces MechIt, a platform designed to seamlessly link motorists with experienced mechanics, using Benin City, Nigeria as a main focus. Motivated by concerns for road safety, environmental responsibility, and motorist empowerment, MechIt seeks to eliminate the disconnect between motorists and auto mechanics. By offering a rating-based mechanic selection system, a convenient direct communication channel, drive-in, and pick-up services, and a brand-based mechanic locator, MechIt aims to enhance the vehicle maintenance experience, promote transparency, and reduce environmental pollution. Furthermore, an innovative online payment system ensures a hasslefree transaction process. This project employs the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) to develop MechIt, addressing the pressing challenges within the auto mechanic industry. By focusing on the Benin City region and key car brands like Toyota, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz, MechIt seeks to revolutionize the automotive landscape, fostering trust, efficiency, and safety for all stakeholders.
