ABSTRACT

The "Web-Based Application for University of Benin Transportation Service" project aims to revolutionize the transportation infrastructure within the University of Benin, Nigeria. The primary purpose of this endeavour is to develop an innovative and user-friendly web application that streamlines the university's transportation services. By leveraging modern web technologies and robust database management, this project endeavours to enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and overall experience of students, faculty, and staff utilizing the university's transportation system. The ultimate goal is to provide a seamless and reliable transportation service that promotes sustainability, accessibility, and convenience within the academic community. The project adopts a comprehensive methodology encompassing several key phases. It begins with a detailed analysis of the existing transportation system, identifying pain points and areas in need of improvement. Subsequently, we employ modern web development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, to design an intuitive user interface accessible via web browsers and mobile devices. Backed by a robust database management system, the application stores and retrieves transportation data efficiently. The development process adheres to agile project management principles, ensuring iterative improvements based on user feedback and testing. Preliminary results from the project indicate a significant enhancement in the University of Benin's transportation services. The web-based application has successfully improved the accessibility and availability of transportation information for the university community. Users can easily access schedules and routes, contributing to reduced waiting times and a more efficient use of transportation resources. Additionally, user feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with users appreciating the convenience and reliability of the system. This project marks a promising step towards modernizing university transportation services and fostering a more sustainable and accessible campus environment.
