ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to visually represent ‘‘The Gloom (A depiction of the depressing state of the nation). Using the current state of Nigeria as a case study. This project research bears the significance of creating awareness on the destructive nature of bad governance in Nigeria. Many painters have been able to depict this subject for years in a variety of ways, including realism, impressionism, expressionism, abstract, etc. Acrylic paints on canvas were used by the researcher to determine the composition. Construction of the stretcher, stretching the canvas, and priming all contributed to the completion of this painting endeavor. Additionally, it would document the creation of a miniature sketch and its transfer to the main canvas. The painting exercise included various stages and steps and finally detailing of figures. With the adherent to the element and principles of design. While working on this project it was discovered that acrylics offer versatility, allowing artists to work with a range of techniques and styles. Their quick drying time can be advantageous for artists who wish to create multiple pieces for the project.
