The reproductive system is the only system not essential for life, but ensures continued human existence. The functions include; production of gametes, storage of gametes, nourishment of gametes, transport of gametes, provides nutrients and support to the developing embryo, foetus, and infant in female. Along with these, is also fertilization which is the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote. Differences between the male and the female depend primarily on a single chromosome (the Y chromosome) and a single pair of endocrine structures, the testes in the male and the ovaries in the female.
