ABSTRACT
The focused is on A Survey of the Teaching Method used in teaching of Integrated Science in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Four research questions and one hypothesis were raised to guide the study.
The following were the findings: Descriptive Survey Research design was adopted a sample of 116 teachers were selected and 9 structured questionnaire was used as a research instruments to elicit information used in answering the research questions. Descriptive statistics was used as a method of analysis to analysis the respondent’s responses.
Teachers in secondary schools in Ovia North East are aware of the importance teaching methods. Teachers in Ovia North East make use of discussion, field trip and demonstration teaching method in the teaching of integrated science. The methods are suitable to the learners in secondary schools in in Ovia North East Local Government Area. And School type does not influence the kind of teaching method to be adopted. Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made: The school principal should ensure that teachers use regularly employing best suitable method in teaching of integrated science. And The government and stakeholders in education should ensure that the needed funds and resources to facilitate teachers’ use of suitable teaching method is provided.
