ABSTRACT
The study investigated a survey of teachers perception of the problems of teaching poetry in selected secondary schools in egor local government area, Edo state. To achieve the purpose of the study three research questions were raised and examined. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Three research question were raised to guide the study. Questionnaire was designed and used for data collection. Thee sample size for the study was made up of 25 respondents. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Based on the findings, it was discovered that the absence of resources hinders the teaching of poetry there by leading to surface-level understanding rather than deep comprehension. It was concluded that lack of resources. inadequte training of teachers and pedagogical preference constitute problems of teaching poetry in egor local government area, Edo state. It was therefore recommended among others that the government should as a matter of urgency ensure adequate provision of resources needed for teaching and learning poetry
