ABSTRACT
Pesticides are extensively used to control pest infestation by most vegetable farmers. The emergence of a pest outbreak is the most significant threat to farmers across the world, yet it is widely seen as one of the most controllable threats. The study is intended to provide the rate of pesticides use, a general understanding of pesticide on pumpkin and impacts on human health. A total of 50 farmers were purposively sampled for a face-to-face interview. The results showed that all the respondents use pesticides. However, 62% of the respondents were females whilst 38% were females. The farmers use a lot of pesticides in their crop production with low literacy level on proper handling and usage of the pesticides.Pesticide can cause short term effects as well as chronic adverse effects that can occur months later,Or years after exposure. Farmers are encouraged to adopt Good Agricultural Practices to minimize the use of pesticides.
