ABSTRACT
It is an established fact that the importance of education to the development of any society cannot be over emphasized. The work revealed the examination of the attitudes of parents towards the education of the physically challenged children in Ovia North East Local Government of Edo State. The findings revealed that Parents in Ovia North East Local Government are of Edo State sees the education of the physically challenged children as their major priority, parents play the major role in the education of the physically challenged children as their major priority, parents play the major role in the education of the physically challenged children, the physically challenged children in Ovia North East are majorly the mental retarded children and the handicap, the physically challenged children have nothing to offer to the society and as such the money that will be spent on their education is waste of resources, community member's feels irritated and as such don't associate with the physically challenged children in the community, the major challenge of the physically challenged children in Ovia North East Local Government is finance. However, despite the love the parents of the disabled show to their children, they are still ashamed about their children because of the ridicule it gives them and also due to lack of finance and poverty related issue, the parents finds it difficult to send them to school. Some of the disabled children that are going to school also faces ridicule and neglect from their community members or 53 rather peer group, these people feel irritated and as such don't associated with the disabled child/children, this on the other makes learning difficult to the disabled.
