ABSTRACT
This research work provides an in-depth representation, classification and analysis of style and linguistics features found in the songs selected during the Ekpe masquerade festival amongst the Amaoba people. The purpose of this research work is to analysis various literary devices, language choice, sequential formations and styles employed in some songs used during the Ekpe Masquerade Festival. To achieve the aim of this study, the researcher used the tenet of Leech and Short (2007) to analyse the different styles used and identified during the course of gathering information amongst the native people of Amaoba. The study revealed and concluded that some of the songs used during this festival made use of subtexts and underlying literal features to convey ideas which stands the people of Amaoba out from other culture as most of these features are culturally intertwined and recommended A research should be carried out on the semiotic analysis of some communicational tools and instrument used during the Ekpe masquerade festival.
