ABSTRACT
This study investigated the relationship between the availability of sport facilities in secondary schools and the level of students performance in physical education activities in Benin metropolis. The core of the study was the availability of sports facilities and performance in physical education activities in secondary schools.
In conducting this study, four research questions were raised on the availability of sport facilities in secondary school, performance of students in physical education activities, the extent of utilization of sport facilities by the student. In the study related literature were diligently reviewed.
The descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprises all secondary schools in Benin metropolis with total number of 540 as provided by the ministry of education Benin city. The simplerandom sampling technique was used in sampling the school, and 10 schools were sampled for the Study. Questionnaire was used as research instrument. Data collected was analysed using the simple percentage and frequency counts.
The result of the study indicate that not all sampled school had sport facilities,those that had, some of the facilities were not in good conditions. This study recommended that more sport facilities should be provided in schools and students should be encouraged to participate in physical education activities.
