ABSTRACT
The study focuses on effective/adequate practice of management functions in the theatre to have successful productions and to build the image of the theatre. The objectives of this study were to determine the functions of management, the roles of the theatre manager and also to identify the aims and objectives of theatre management. The focus was on Uniben Theatre. The research collected data from both primary and secondary sources. The primary source was a survey, which used the instrument of questionnaire to sample the views of the respondents towards the phenomenon being investigated. The analysis of data were done descriptively and the tables were use along with simple percentage. The secondary source entailed a review of relevant literature on the subject matter of the research. The study observed data gathered from both methodologies that the functions of management are planning, organizing, controlling, staffing and leading the various aspects of the theatre. And the adequate and sound practice of these functions would make theatre productions successful, thereby building the image of the theatre. The study therefore recommend that theatre practitioners should have sound knowledge of what theatre management functions entails and all aspects of the theatre in order to manage the theatre appropriately.
