This study examined the crucial role of verbal communication within the world of theatre production, specifically among practitioners in Benin City. The research identifies a lack of awareness surrounding effective verbal communication techniques for directing, necessitating further exploration to improve theatre arts production. Theatre is a collaborative art form that heavily relies on effective communication to convey artistic visions and create captivating performances. To assess the effectiveness of verbal communication throughout various stages of production - from pre-production planning to rehearsals and final performance - this study employs survey research design utilizing questionnaires or surveys. The findings reveal how the nature of verbal communication significantly impacts theatre productions, influencing factors such as artistic interpretation, actor-director relationships, and overall quality of final productions. Practitioners in Benin City emphasize clear and concise communication as essential for fostering positive work environments and achieving successful outcomes. This study sheds light on the complex interplay between language use and cathartic power within theatrical contexts while underscoring the vital importance of effective communication among practitioners in Benin City.
