ABSTRACT
The study was designed to investigate the challenges faced by Student teachers during teaching practice exercise. To carry out the study, six research questions were raised and the six research questions were answered. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. Data was collected from the sampled University. The Faculty of Education was used for the study and 160 Education Students who have undergone teaching practice exercise for at least once formed the sampled population. The closed ended questionnaire was used to generate data for the study and the analysis was done using simple percentage and tables. From the analysis of the data, it was discovered that lack of thorough supervision, lack of cooperation from the school based teachers, inadequate teaching aids in the schools of posting, non-posting of student teachers to their schools of choice, lack of incentives to student teachers and lack of cooperation from the students in the schools posted to were the major challenges faced by student teachers during teaching practice exercise.
