ABSTRACT
The study was designed to investigate the challenges faced by student teachers during teaching practice exercise. To carry out the study, six research questions were raised and six research questions were answered. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study and 300 student teacherswho have undergone teaching practice exercise at least once formed the sampled population. The closed ended questionnaire was used to generate data for the study and analysis of the data for the study of the analysis was done using percentage and tables. From the analysis of the data, it was discovered that lack of thorough supervision, lack of cooperation from the student teachers, inadequate teaching aids in the school of choice, lack of incentives to student teachers and lack of cooperation from the students in the schools posted to were the major challenges faced by student teachers during teaching practice exercise.
