ABSTRACT

This study was centered on investigatingteachers attitude towards the use of ICT in teaching Chemistry in senior secondary school, It also investigated the reasons for the use of ICT for effective and efficient teaching and learning of Chemistry, the prevalence in the use of ICT for effective and efficient teaching and learning of Chemistry by Chemistry teachers in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, three research questions were raised to guide the study.

The research design was a questionnaire and it was validated by my supervisor and two other professionals who assessed the relevance of each in relation to the objectives of the study. The questionnaires were distributed to teachers in the sample area, and the reliability of the instrument was measured and a coefficient 0.722 was   obtained using Cronbachs Alpha.

The findings show that, though some Chemistry teachers have good reasons for the use of ICT but there are little or no ICT facilities in our secondary school in the local government area. It also shows that the prevalence in ICT usage of Chemistry teaching is very poor; this therefore goes to show that the overall attitude of teacher’s cannot be ascertained because ICT facilities are not available for use in secondary schools in the L.G.A.
