ABSTRACT
A study of Student's Attitudes toward Integrated Science In Ovia North East Local Government Area. In conducting the study , five research questions were raised and tested . The instrument adopted was a structured questionnaire on " A study of Student's Attitude towards Integrated Science in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State" . The population of study comprised of three thousand and six hundred (3,600) Student in Ovia North East Local Government, Edo state, out of which hundred (100) respondents were sampled for the study using proportionate stratified random sampling technique in selecting the respondents. The reliability of the instrument was ensured by using Cronbach Alpha Coefficient reliability computation which yield a coefficient index of 0.70. The questionnaire were administered and the data obtained were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The result of the finding revealled that Student have the attitude of not having a complete integrated science note and students do not attend integrated science class , students complains of bulky scheme of work in integrated science and that student prefer other subjects to integrated science, students do not cooperate with teacher in the class. Instructional materials helps to make learning meaningful to learners , stimulate learners interest,enrich learning and make it more pleasurable, enhance the quality of viii learning experience for learning in many ways, and help to create a more relaxed learning atmosphere. Students did not prefer lecture teaching method during integrated science class, and that students learn better with discussion and demonstration teaching method to other teaching method . Students performance can be affected by teacher’s attitude and positive attitude of teacher serves as a such of motivation to student and boost student self confidence , non verbal action of teacher such as smiling ,having a relaxed stance improve student’s performance to learning, and belittling comment from teacher can affect student performance.
