ABSTRACT
This study examines how Nigeria's foreign policy since the Cold war has witnessed significant transformations, reflecting the evolving dynamics of the international system and Nigeria's own aspirations as a regional power in Africa. It shows how Nigeria's foreign policy has consistently prioritized regional leadership band stability within West Africa. The country has played an active role in mediating conflicts, promoting peacekeeping efforts and facilitating regional integration through organizations such as ECOWAS.¹ Nigeria's contributions to regional security, including its involvement in peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Mali demonstrate its commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.
