ABSTRACT
This study examines the use of jargon in the construction field, exploring its role in shaping communication and collaboration among professionals. Through a mixed-methods approach, combining observations and interviews, and by analyzing terminology usage as well as jargons used by construction workers was investigated. The findings point to jargon serving as a contextual tool facilitating efficient communication among insiders while creating barriers to understanding for outsiders. Also pointing to the formality of jargon, this research shows the characters that display it's formal nature in facts and data and it's analysis while key meanings, technical terminology, and acronyms used in this field are identified. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of language in the construction industry, highlighting the need for clear communication and inclusive language practices to enhance project outcomes and worker safety. The study's findings have contributed to the general knowledge on jargons especially as used in the construction field among other fields aiming to develop strategies for promoting clearer communication and fostering a more inclusive industry environment.
