Based on the conclusion, the paper made practical suggestions which include among others things that the federal and state ministries of education should ensure that only holders of NCE and degree in English are allowed to teach English; school administrators should reduce English Language teachers' workload to afford them ample time to prepare their lessons and assess students more regularly with corresponding regular feedbacks; Government should motivate English Language teachers by paying their salaries regularly and punctually and providing incentives; teachers of other subjects should make the English Language teacher's work easy by correcting their students' errors in the class and in assignments; Government should prioritize the education sector during budgetary allocation, so that a substantial amount is voted for the teaching of English Language in secondary schools.
