Abstract
The sudden outbreak of covid-19 disease which pose a serious threat to the world of which nurses are vulnerable as front line health care workers. The severity of the infection led to the development of the covid-19 vaccine. The aim of this study is to access the uptake of Covid-19 vaccine among nurses in University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State. The Health Belief Model served as the theoretical study framework. The study used a case control study design, and was carried out among nurses in university of Benin Teaching Hospital Benin-city The instrument for data collection was a data record Sections; A contains socio-demographic information of the respondents, B contained the uptake of covid-19 vaccine among the nurses, section C Data was analyzed using SPSS version 24.0 and descriptive statistics was used. A p value of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Ethical approval was obtained from the institution. There is a statistically significant between the factors that promote the uptake and the acceptance of covid-19 vaccine among nurses (p< 0.05). This study assessed the uptake of covid19 vaccine among nurses in the UBTH Benin-city. The result shows that there is above average level of covid-19 vaccine uptake among the nurses in UBTH and on this basis, the government should implement policies that will facilitate the uptake of covid-19 vaccine.
