ABSTRACT
Kwasi Wiredu, one of Africa’s own most famous scholar has done a great deal of reflection on the African worldview especially on truth. For Wiredu, truth is the same thing as opinion. In this work, Wiredu, contributes towards advancing Africa’s cultural heritage. Hence, the basic aim of this work is to understand the fundamental contributions made by Wiredu and to situate these within the real context of the need for social rectification and transformation in Africa. This work is aimed at understanding how the integration of human cultural values and knowledge could help in developing Africa. The work seeks to provide an understanding of the inherent values in our Africa culture and its limitations. It tries to create the awareness for a critical quest to improve our cultural values. In this analysis of Wiredu, we focus on the study of the existentially beneficial values needed for Africa’s development. This work shows how knowledge and culture can contribute to development in contemporary Africa, taking into cognizance the dictates of the post-modern era.
