SUMMARY
This study has analyzed the features of pragmatics in nollywood movie titles and its relevance in understanding the movie’s message. No nollywood movie is produced in a vacuum, but its storylines are reflections of the Nigerian society, as such the selected title are conditioned by the socio-cultural context of the Nigerian society. The title of any given movie in the nollywood industry serves as the first window for the audience to draw theme and message about the movie. Therefore, the movie titles should be given based on contextual knowledge of the society they represent and the viewers should apply contextual pragmatic knowledge in understanding these titles.
