Summary
The research, an investigation into the address terms among the Igbo people, and how address terms help to achieve harmonious coexistence, was introduced with an introductory comment on communications and address terms, followed closely by a brief discussion on Igbo language and its people. Subsequently followed by the research questions, methodology, aims and objectives, and significant of the study to linguistic research was discussed. Furthermore, some vital concepts to the study such as address terms, semantics, were discussed etc. Also, a review of previous works orthographic forms by scholars such Ezeifeka, C., & Ojonugwa, J. S. (2019), Pribadi (2016), and C.U.C. Ugorji (2009). This is followed by the theoretical framework, Speech Act theory of J. L. Austin (1962) which served as a guide towards the present study.
