ABSTRACT

At any level of language study, words serve as the foundation for linguistic analysis. The data used for this analysis of this study were chosen at random. The sources of the data used in the analysis of this study are texts exchanged between friends, acquaintances, and family. The goal of this research work was to outline the different Lexical and Morphological components that comprise thirty carefully chosen private text messages and to identify the lexical elements present in these particular text messages, lexical features, lexical relations, and word-formation processes were utilized. The theoretical framework employed in this research work is the Lexical Field Theory by Jost Trier (1931). One of the study's findings was that nouns were mostly used in the messages while interjections were the least frequently utilized lexical features in its makeup. It was also found that the word-formation process of Clipping produced the majority of the words used in the messages. The conclusion of this project stated that, provided the recipients of the messages are aware of the different lexical elements and word formation processes noted in their interpretation, effective communication between the sender and the recipient can be achieved through personal text messages.
