ABSTRACT
Cooking can be defined as the art, science and craft of preparing food for consumption. Cooking in most cases involves heat and, though sometimes natural elements are involved. In other words, it requires a burning/heating action. This work investigated the verbs of cooking identifiable in the Emenanjo's (2005) classification of Igbo verbs. The aim of the study was to investigate how the verbs manifest syntactically and what their morphological markings are. The study was purely descriptive and objective. The method of data collection used in this study was that of qualitative method. The study found out that Igbo verbs of cooking were identified under three out of the five classes of Emenajo's 2005 classification of Igbo verbs.
