ABSTRACT
This research effort focuses on morpho- semantic analysis of Edo name both in time past and in the contemporary times. This work aims at examining the Edo names that can be serving as a resources material for the study of Edo names. Data gathered for this study were collected from personal interview with the aid of digital tape recorder. The study is analyzed using descriptive theory as presented by Dryer (1996).
The major findings of this study however revealed that, names reveal people hopes, expectation, fears and anxieties.
The study also shows that a reliable linguistics study can be carried out on the basis of Edo names.
