ABSTRACT
This study examines the morphophonological analysis of the numeral system of the Ijebu Dialect of Yoruba”. The primary motivation for the study was to examine the morphological and phonological structure of the Ijebu numerals. The study collects data using two different approaches. They are the main and auxiliary techniques, employing direct discussions with a random sample of Ijebu language native speakers. Basic linguistic theory was used in attempting to describe languages structure of the numerals. The findings of this work indicate that cardinal and ordinal numerals are both used in the Ijebu numeral system. The language uses both derived and fundamental cardinal numerals. The fundamental numbers are ones from one to 10 plus a few others. The derived numerals are created by applying certain mathematical operations to the basic numerals.
