ABSTRACT
Computer-mediated communication (CMC) has given much insight to the development of new grammar used on the internet and how this on it's own is an evolution and affects changes on the English structure grammar creating a new pattern internet users socialize. The present study shows the theory of clipping on CMC by Nigerian internet users. It contains Five chapters. Chapter one is an introduction to the study. It contains problems of the study, methodology and objectives of the study.Chapter Two reviews the related concepts of CMC as such morphology, syntax, phonology and semantics.Chapter Three is devoted to the data presentation of word classification on CMC and elaborates more on the verb phrase, noun phrase, adjectival phrase and adverbial phrase.Chapter Four analyses the data presented on the word classification on CMC and the contextual usage on how each of the following word classes are contextually used.Chapter Five concludes the research and the analysis with the major findings, summary and conclusion. The study reveals that CMC has give rise to new grammar used by internet users.
