The motivation for this study, includes the preservation of cultural heritage, linguistic research, communication and language revitalization, cultural exchange and integration, and personal interest and curiosity in loanwords in Afemai language. The methodology applied in this study is qualitative, involving interviews with four individuals - two males and two females aged 18-20 and 40-50 years. Their data was collected and analyzed using the Theoretical framework of The Cultural Evolution of Language proposed by Dediu and Levinson in 2013. This framework combines genetic and cultural evolution principles to comprehend language change, including word borrowings. The study findings underscore that every language continuously evolves and necessitates new vocabulary. Moreover, Afemai's linguistic structure prohibits consonant clusters, necessitating phonological adjustments like insertion and deletion for borrowed words to align with the language's sound system. The value of this work for Afemai and linguistic study is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of languages and the dynamic nature of the Linguistic evolution of within the Afemai community.
