ABSTRACT
Principally, names are the certified medium of identification for humans. The need to identify one person to another brings out different forms and diversities in names derivation. Names represent a significant aspect of socio-cultural and linguistics orientation of a group of people. This work is titled “A linguistic Analysis of Personal Names in Ora Language of Owan West in Edo State” is concerned with one of the convention of onomastics that is the process of deriving personal names in Ora language. The data for this study was collected using oral interview and qualitative research mechanism. This investigation into the compositional structure of Ora personal names will show the workings of lexical computation in the derivation of names.
