ABSTRACT
This research work examines the health implications of the environmental degradation in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria. It posites that environmental degradation has been the bane of the Nigeria’s Niger Delta Region and this is not just evident in Nigeria alone but in other parts of the world, the health implications of these environmental degrading activities are enormous. This research work looks into the importance of a healthy environment and how a healthy environment affects the health of the Niger Deltans. It further examines the views and opinions of various authors and writers with regards to environmental degradations, and finds that lack of environmental of the policies affects on the health of individuals and also note that the Government has have failed to provide sufficient laws to protect the environment and human health and it further notes that the existing laws are obsolete. This research also examines the causes of environmental degradation, the challenges the Niger Deltans faced due to environmental degradations. It recommends that the existing legislations in Nigeria should be renewed in line with present realities. The research concludes that clean environment and good health can be achieved through proper legislations that protect the environment.
