ABSTRACT

On November 2017, there was an emergence of citizen social media protest against the brutality and highhandness of the Nigerian police in Nigeria. This social protest came as a result of the citizens displeasure and dissatisfaction with the activities of the police, especially the Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS). The Nigerian government responded to the protest on the bases of repression and subjugation towards the demonstrators. However, this study capture how SARS notoriously and brutalized Nigerian and this led to an outcry by the people and demand the for the disbandment of Special Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS). The study examined the legal perspectives of the effectiveness of EndSars Protest in the Nigerian; with specific set objectives to find out the causes of the EndSars protest in Nigeria; ascertain the aftermath of the EndSars protest in Nigeria and proffer possible solutions to the causes of the EndSars protest in Nigeria. The legal scale of the protest and the government’s response, this momentous event has attracted scholarly attention. The extant literature has identified governance.
