A FRAMEWORK ON ALTERNATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING METHOD FOR LARGE CLASS SIZE IN THE POST COVID-19 ERA

ABSTRACT

Overtime experts in the educational field have been concerned with the effect that large class size has on teaching and learning. The problem with large class size is that it has negative effect on student achievement owning to the fact that students have less one on one time with their teachers. Based on this, a research was carried out on students of UNIVERSITY OF BENIN who were running either diploma, undergraduate or post graduate programs using direct observation, interview and questionnaire method. Result deduced from the research is that there are a lot of problems that prevent students from learning in a large class size such as inaudibility of the lecturer in class, distractions from within their environment etc. This paper proposes a framework that combines traditional teaching and learning method with online learning method that is convenient for the post covid-19 era.
