ABSTRACT
The society flourishes with the use of language, as language is a basic tool of communication used in our day to day activities. Through language, we express our beliefs, values, and principles, and some of those beliefs and value revolves around cultural practices including festivals. Festivals are a reflection of ourselves, our culture and mode of interaction between the people in our society. While this research work mirrors a brief history of the Igbanke people of Nigeria, their occupation and lifestyle, this study focuses on the use of language during the festival of the Igbankes. It is aimed at the documentation of all forms of communication used during the festival and the impact these various forms of communication hold in the society and in the study of languages.
