ABSTRACT
This study examines the linguistic descriptive analysis of ideophones in Igbo syntax. It identifies how ideophonic words and expression functions in Igbo sentence construction. The data use in this study were collected by recording of utterances, through interview of Igbo native speakers using the descriptive theory by dryer (1976:28) dryer opined that descriptive theories are theories about the use of language. In using the descriptive theory which was adopted as the theoretical framework for this study which is all about how languages function for it to provide adequate description of individual language
Our finding shows that ideophones in Igbo function in various grammatical constructions in Igbo language. It is also discover that ideophones can function as adjective, adverb, and as a nominal in Igbo sentence.
 Ideophones in Igbo language can be appropriately used and understood by Igbo native speaker in a particular community.
