ABSTRACT
The essay underscores that the agitation for resource control in certain regions of the country stems from economic and social neglect. The Niger-Delta area, a significant contributor to the nation's resources, requires substantial attention in terms of infrastructure and human development. While the Supreme Court judgment seemingly ended the resource control agitation, the federal government's political resolution through the abrogation of the onshore and iii offshore dichotomy bill is commendable. The bill, signed into law by President Olusegun Obasanjo, has alleviated some of the challenges faced by the people of the Niger-Delta region.
