ABSTRACT

This case study investigates the level of computer literacy among junior secondary school students in Ovia North-East, Benin City, Edo State. With the increasing importance of digital skills in today’s globalized world, understanding the proficiency and access to computer technology among students is crucial. The sample of the study was made up of 80 respondents from junior secondary schools from Ovia North-East Local Government Area, Benin City, Edo State. The sample of the study was selected using the simple random sampling technique and a questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The findings reveal disparities in computer literacy levels among students, the influence of teaching method on the students’ computer literacy level and the difference between computer literacy and students' academic performance based on sex. The study contributes valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities for enhancing computer literacy in junior secondary schools in Nigeria, ultimately aiming to inform policies and interventions that can bridge the digital divide and prepare students for a technology-driven future.
